In the summer of 1994 David Frost, PGA Tour Golfer, and his brother, Michel, bought a 300 acre Wine Farm (called a Wine Estate in South Africa) at the foot of a mountain range in Paarl, South Africa.

Paarl, meaning Pearl in Afrikaans, is a relatively warm region, large, spread out with wide valley floors and high mountains. The region is exactly on the same latitude south as Spain's sherry region is north. Paarl accounts for about 20% of South Africa's vineyard area. Paarl is approximately 30 miles NW of Cape Town. South Africa is the 7th largest producer of world wines.

David and Michel, grew up on a wine farm their father owned in the Stellenbosch area and had always wanted to fulfill a dream of owning and producing fine wines.

To help them fulfill their dream, David employed Jason Fisher, a wine maker in the Napa Valley, California - Jason studied biology and viticulture at U.C. Davis and at Napa Valley's Napa College.

Dedicating the wine to golfing legends:

As part of David Frost's commitment to put something back into the community as a successful sportsman, he decided that all future releases of his wine will be dedicated to a golfing legend. David Frost Wines will donate $1 from each bottle sold to a charity designated by that golfer (or their family/foundation).

Each year's release will be dedicated to a different golfer selected by panel of some very notable people in the golf industry and business community - e.g. Bob Dedman Jnr. - Chairman of ClubCorp; Tim Finchem - Commissioner of the PGA.

The first release to be dedicated has been dedicated to Sam Snead:
  • 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
  • 1998 Merlot Reserve
  • 1999 Chardonnay
Our second release - released November 2001, has been dedicated to Arnold Palmer.
  • 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
  • 1999 Merlot Reserve
  • 2000 Chardonnay
  • 2001 Sauvignon Blanc
The current release - released January  2003, has been dedicated to Gene Sarazen.
  • 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
  • 2000 Merlot Reserve
  • 2001 Chardonnay
  • 2002 Sauvignon Blanc

The wine labels for all our vintages feature labels of these golfing greats  painted by world renowned artist Leroy Neiman.
